ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING
September 9, 2025

MINUTES
The meeting was called to order by President Halvorson at 5:30 p.m. at the City of Lacey’s Community Center on Pacific Avenue.

Twenty-five members being present, a quorum was established.

President Halvorson introduced the current members of the Board of Trustees: Vice-President Cynthia Pratt, Secretary John Dziedzic, and Trustees Cheryl Malkmus, Tim McGuire, John Turner, Paul Webb, and Margie Wyllie. Treasurer Miller and Trustees Ganders, Keegan, and Sorger were excused.

Trustee Webb moved to dispense with the reading of the minutes of the previous in-person annual meeting, held September 5, 2024. The motion was seconded and passed without objection.

Nominations committee member Shelley Dziedzic read the report of the Nominations Committee, in which the names of the candidates listed on the official ballot (attached herein as page 3 of these minuetes) were recommended for nomination to the respective positions as Trustees and Officers of the organization.

President Halvorson invited nominations from the floor. No nominations were presented. Trustee Webb moved to close nominations and cast a unanimous ballot for the six candidates for trustees and the four officers of the Board of Trustees, as recommended by the nominating committee. The motion passed without objection.

The following were certified as having been elected to the designated one-year term as Officers of the Lacey Historical Society, with terms to commence January 1, 2026:

Jon Halvorson, President
Cynthia Pratt, Vice President
Tim McGuire, Treasurer
John Dziedzic, Secretary

Secretary Dziedzic summarized an amendment to the by-laws of the Society proposing to expand the number of members on the Board of Trustees from the existing twelve to “up to fifteen positions.” President Halvorson invited amendments to the amendment, but none were offered. Trustee Webb moved to enter a unanimous ballot accepting the proposed by-law amendment. The motion passed without objection.
President Halvorson individually introduced the following recipients of the City of Lacey’s Glen Balsley Historians of the year, and welcomed each recipient or representative present to the podium to say a few words about what receiving the award had meant to them:
At the conclusion of the recognition of, and comments by, the Historians of the Year, President Halvorson declared the annual meeting of the Lacey Historical Society adjourned at 6:23 p.m., and a reception ensued.

Respectfully submitted: John Dziedzic, Secretary
