BOARD OF TRUSTEES REGULAR MEETING

September 12, 2023 – 3:30pm

MINUTES

 

Present:  Jon Halvorson, President, Robert Southwick, Vice-President; Kendra Hensley, Treasurer; and Trustees Peggy McHugo, Nancy Miller, Monte Pascual, Paul Webb, and Margie Wyllie.  Guests: Denise Keegan, Cynthia Jo Pratt and Tim McGuire, Trustee Nominees.

Secretary John Dziedzic had a previous commitment. Trustee Turner was absent.

President Halvorson convened the meeting at 3:36 p.m.

 

Agenda/Previous Minutes:   M/S/P Trustee Webb moved and Treasurer Hensley seconded a motion to approve the agenda as presented.  M/S/P Treasurer Hensley moved and seconded to approve the Minutes of the August 10, 2023 meeting, as amended, were also approved.

 

Website Development:   President Halverson updated the board on the progress of our website development.  Treasurer Hensley informed the board that a check was issued for $1,250.00 to begin our website development with ProfitzUp which we approved at our last meeting.  Progress is on schedule.

 

Lacey Historical Commission representative:  President Halvorson distributed a signup sheet for the balance of the year. October, November, and December will be represented by Trustee’s Wyllie (Oct.), McHugo (Nov) and Webb (Dec).

 

President’s Report:  President Halvorson discussed the LHS Priorities which was distributed dated July 26,2023.  The first five items are currently being worked on. Proposed by-law changes were distributed from a September 3, 2023

initial draft meeting.  Our October 10th meeting our board will discuss final proposed by-law recommendations to be presented at our annual meeting for approval.

 

President Halvorson distributed the LHS 2023 Budget which was adopted August 10, 2023.

 

Treasurer’s Report:  Treasurer Hensley distributed and discussed the most recently received statements from the Society’s financial institutions, as well as an internal summary of the Society’s expenditures through the end of August.  We will be transitioning all our accounts to Washington State Employees Credit Union (WSECU).  This will include debit and credit cards plus a checking account and savings.

M/S/P Trustee Miller moved and Trustee Webb seconded to accept the Treasurer’s report.  The motion was adopted.

Since our beginning in 1980, we have archived all records through 2017.  2018 to current is being reviewed for archival as well.

 

Annual Meeting:  October 24th is the date of our annual meeting beginning at 6:30 pm at the Lacey Community Center.  A panel comprised of President Jon Halvorson, former Lacey Mayou’s Karen Fraser and Graeme Sackrison will be present at the annual meeting to make a presentation.

 

Election of trustees and proposed by-law changes will be voted on as well.

 

Newsletter: Trustee Wyllie summarized the status of the newsletter, and plans to get it printed, folded, and mailed soon.

 

Lacey Library Display:  Discussion of purchasing a banner to better advertise

 

Next Meeting:  The Board agreed to next three meetings on Tuesday’s, October 10, November 14, and December 12 at 3:00 at the Lacey Fire Department main station.

The meeting was adjourned at 4:35 p.m.
