SPECIAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING
June 6, 2024 – 5:30pm

MINUTES

Present: President Jon Halvorson, Cynthia Pratt, Vice President, Kendra Hensley, Treasurer, Tim McGuire, Co-Secretary, Co-Secretary Denise Keegan, and Trustees Larry Ganders, Cheryl Malkmus, Peggy McHugo, Monte Pascual and Margie Wyllie. Trustee John Turner was excused. Trustee Southwick absent. 23 Members attended this special meeting.
Vice President Pratt introduced President Jon Halvorson who served on the Lacey City Council from 1991-1999 and Mayor. He convened the meeting 5:30 p.m.
President Halvorson declared we had a quorum.

Announcements:
Trustee Wyllie discussed the plans for recognizing Lacey’s first doctor. Dr Ehlers spent many years caring for area residents for many years.
The Annual meeting will be held September 5, 2024 from 5:30-7:00pm at the Lacey Community Center. Guest speakers will be Larry Blume and John Donaldson representing Capital Development Company and Rick Walk, Lacey City Manager. Elections of officers will be held at the meeting.

Program: Former Trustee Paul Webb, Historian of the Year provided a great history of Al Homann’s involvement in the Lacey area including many buildings built in the Thurston County area. Al Homann was Lacey’s first Mayor as well as his contributions to the Lacey Fire Department.
Updates on Bylaw amendments: John Dziedzic, former Secretary explained the proposed changes to our bylaws. The changes allow for more flexibility in annual meetings and clarifies the duties of officers and defines our membership year.

Results of Vote on Bylaw amendments:
We had 23 members attend the special meeting, including 10 trustees. Three of the 23 were new members and 3 additional members renewed their membership when they arrived. 21 ballots were turned in at the meeting and two more were received by mail. Three members voted by email for a total of 26 ballots cast. The proposed changes to the bylaws were approved. There being no additional discussion President Halvorson declared the meeting adjourned. The meeting was adjourned at 6:08 p.m.
