ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING
Lacey Community Center
October 24, 2023 – 6:30pm

MINUTES
The meeting was called to order by President Halvorson at 6:30 p.m.
Thirty-four members being present, a quorum was established.

President Halvorson introduced the current members of the Board of Trustees: Vice-President Robert Southwick, Treasurer Kendra Hensley, Secretary John Dziedzic, and Trustees Peggy McHugo, Nancy Miller, John Turner, Paul Webb, and Margie Wyllie.

Trustee Webb moved, and Vice-President Southwick seconded, a motion to dispense with the reading of the minutes of the previous in-person annual meeting, held September 26, 2019. The motion passed without objection.

President Halvorson introduced the non-incumbent nominees for election to the Board of Trustees: Larry Ganders, Susan Hartman, Denise Keegan, and Tim McGuire. President Halvorson reported that nominee Cynthia Jo Pratt had informed him that she had not been feeling well earlier that day, and was excused.
President Halvorson invited nominations from the floor. No nominations were presented. Trustee Webb moved, and Trustee Miller seconded, a motion to close nominations and cast a unanimous ballot for the twelve candidates for trustees and the four officers of the Board of Trustees, as recommended by the nominating committee. The motion passed without objection.

Secretary Dziedzic summarized the four proposed amendments to the by-laws of the Society. President Halvorson invited amendments to
the amendments, but none were offered. Trustee Webb moved, and Trustee Miller seconded, a motion to enter a unanimous ballot accepting each proposed by-law amendment. The motion passed without objection.

Secretary Dziedzic introduced the evening’s panel of former Lacey Mayors:
KAREN FRASER, who served as Lacey’s Mayor from 1976 through 1980, and was Lacey’s first female mayor.
GRAEME SACKRISON, who served two-non-consecutive terms as Mayor of Lacey, from 2000 to 2004 and 2008 through 2010, totaling six of his 13 years on the city council.
JON HALVORSON, who was Mayor of Lacey from 1993 to 1996.

At the conclusion of the Mayors’ panel, President Halvorson declared the annual meeting of the Lacey Historical Society adjourned.
